Gobble Gobble
November 19, 2023
Male turkeys have a habit of making this sound to communicate with their turkey family, friends, and foes or to announce their appreciation to and praise of the Creator. (The Bible DOES say, “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.”) Enough about turkeys. Let’s move on to today’s applicable meaning of “gobble”~~to eat hungrily and noisily.
Sunday, November 19th, at New Hope, a whole passel of people gathered in the fellowship hall after morning worship to gobble.
A mouth-watering Thanksgiving meal was being offered to all comers. Free! No obligation to purchase!
Ham, turkey, dressing! Green beans, smashed taters, and breads! Corn, mac and cheese, and pie! Oh, my! Not to forget the razzleberry dressing (AKA cranberry sauce).
Stuffed eggs were also available for the less discerning diners. You know who I mean. . .folks who will eat most anything as long as it’s standing still.
Yes, we gobbled shamelessly while conversing noisily in an attitude of gratitude to our God and Father, the giver of every good and perfect gift.
May we express never-ending thanks to the One from whom all blessings flow.
